After three years working as a Stage Photographer in the Film Making Business for Miss Claudie Ossard, Philip entered the Fashion world in Miami in 1992.
Back in 1995 in Paris, he had an encounter that would change his life – he met Michel Comte, the world-wide recognized fashion and celebrity photographer.
Four years of collaboration as his assistant provided Philip with an invaluable introduction to portrait photography, with shoots from New-York to Milan.
In 1999, while in Paris, Philip then met the famous photographer Alban Christ .The partnership flourished and
for nearly 10 years the team travelled across the world, shooting a range of subjects, from models for Fashion magazines to breathtaking landscapes.
After Alban tragically passed away, Philip began to focus on expressing tragedy through the lens. His first and ground-breaking piece of work in this genre was the « Délicat Dictat » , a beauty-satire about anorexia in the Fashion Business. The work led to an exhibition in the Palais Royal « Carre VIP » Gallery.
Over the years, Philip has specialized further and further in photography of human subjects, and the relationship between the human and his/her urban environment.
This focus enabled Philip to develop further his passion for the beauty found in pure lines of modern architecture and for the people living inside them. In particular, he concentrated on shooting subjects from behind, capturing the « unknown personality » in each and every one of us that exists beyond the merely cosmetic.
Today, portrait photography remains his signature, and he has worked with a range of people and celebrities. In each case, he strives to capture the « honest » self, our true personalities…
« Too little attention is paid to « Backstage » photography. Each one of us is playing in our own drama. The job of a photographer is to capture the beauty of that drama reflected in the faces and poses of subjects. »
